CHANGES PROJECT IN CRETE
29 of APRIL- 2 of MAY
The University of Chieti has organized visits in Crete with about 40 students, 4 professors and with Greek colleagues of sites in Crete, with conferences in situ, on field lectures and conferences directly in front of the monuments and within the museums. Sites like Gortys, Kommos and Knossos have been transformed into an open air auditorium. At Kommos we have discussed the possibility of climate change and change of line costs as con-causes of the decline of the ancient harbor since Hellenistic and Roman times. At Knossos and in the Museum of Heraklion the group has analysed and discussed concerning the presence of natural elements, as flora and fauna, in the frescos decorating the palace. Moreover, at Knossos also several systems for moderating the climatic excursions between summer and winter has been seen from the architectonic point of view. During the visits at Gortys, the site has been used as an open air theatre for analysing ancient Greek mythology, including the secular tree which is the central pilaster of the mythology related to the site.
